Re: Incident Before Matchday 30 Fixture – Shooting Stars vs Niger Tornadoes

Our attention has been drawn to a statement released by the media department of Niger Tornadoes FC regarding an incident that occurred ahead of the NPFL Matchday 30 encounter between Shooting Stars Sports Club and Niger Tornadoes on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025.

As a fans-driven media platform, 3SCFansTV wishes to categorically state our position and clarify any misconceptions arising from the said publication.

Our crew arrived at the Lekan Salami Stadium early, as is our standard practice, to capture pre-match content, conduct fan engagement, and document the stadium atmosphere. These activities have always been done professionally and respectfully, with no interference in official matchday operations.

At approximately 4:09PM, our production team was alerted by goalkeeper coach Kola Ige that his colleague, Dosu John, had been physically attacked and was on the ground. One of our volunteers responded immediately to assist, in a purely humanitarian capacity, to help restore Coach Dosu to a stable state. He was however moved out in a vehicle to the hospital for further treatment at 4:12PM, according to our metadata.
The cadences that ensued and also can be confirmed by eyewitnesses and stadium officials, are as follows:

The Shooting Stars technical crew had arrived earlier and set up cones and equipment for their scheduled warm-up routine.
• Niger Tornadoes officials attempted to walk across the area that had been marked out, despite the availability of the opposite half of the pitch.
• In calling their attention to the setup already in place, a brief verbal exchange occurred.
• It was during this moment that an altercation broke out, resulting in a physical attack on Coach Dosu John, who sustained visible injuries to his mouth.
• While our volunteer was returning to his post, he attempted to calmly clarify the situation to a few Tornadoes players and was also nearly assaulted, sustaining a minor cut in the process.
• Other media professionals present had to intervene quickly to de-escalate the situation.

To be clear, 3SCFansTV does not play any official role in matchday logistics or dictate the use of the pitch by visiting teams. Our objective remains solely centered on fans’ content creation and storytelling around the club and its supporters.

We deeply condemn any act of violence or harassment directed at officials, staff, players, or volunteers—whether home or away—and urge all clubs to maintain a high standard of professionalism and sportsmanship on matchdays.

We thank the stadium medical team and fellow media personnel who quickly supported our volunteer and helped restore calm.

We hope this provides clarity and helps put an end to the false narrative making the rounds.

Signed,

3SCFansTV Communications Team
